Being Superhydrophobic, Repellix’s effect on water can produce dramatic results. Two chips of a silicon wafer were coated with Repellix, and placed in a transparent box, then filled with slightly colored water.
The water does not stick to the coated surfaces, and bounds up into a pronounced miniscus. We commonly refer to this as the “Red Sea” test as the silicon chips are dry and the water looms tall around them!
